SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
Our summer camp is only as good as the staff it hires. That is why we search the globe for the most experienced and enthusiastic staff members we can find. From England to Australia and California to Maine, our staff consists of about fifteen different nations and over twenty states. Everyone comes together with one goal in mind; to make sure our campers have the best summer of their lives!

We are looking for general counselors, specialist counselors, leadership positions, and support staff for the upcoming summer. General counselors spend the day with their division of campers; guiding, supporting, and supervising them as they go from activity to activity.

As a specialist, you concentrate on a specific area, passing on your knowledge to our campers to ensure they are learning or mastering that skill. The leadership roles we fill each summer range from department heads and group leaders to medical staff and office assistants. Lastly, our support staff members work behind the scenes as kitchen staff, maintenance workers, groundskeepers, and housekeepers to ensure the day to day operations of camp are handled.

Generally, most of our counselors are aged between nineteen and twenty-five, while our leadership staff are over twenty-five and have worked their way up the camp ladder. For a complete list, view our staff positions.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The staffs of Kimama and TY with a combined century of Jewish camping experience - have been working to create an exciting and varied program, full of promise for an unforgettable summer. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our joint international leadership program, the first of its kind, will cater to youth from Israel, the U.S and EUrope, who will all have an amazing time in a content rich summer camp lasting 3.5 weeks at Camp Tel Yehuda in Upstate New York.

CAMP FACILITIES: The New York Kids Club is New York's premier children's enrichment center, renowned for creative and innovative kids classes, day camps, birthday celebrations, and special events! Our unique and original curricula provide children the opportunity to build confidence and express their individuality through participation in physically challenging, artistically enriching, and intellectually stimulating programs.

CAMP FACILITIES: SOAR has two major Base Camp facilities: one in Balsam North Carolina where we have rustic cabins, a dining pavilion, on site showers/bathrooms, high and low ropes course, as well as several gathering campfire locations. The other is in Dubois Wyoming, where we have similar amenities as above except, this base camp is a working horse ranch!

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Philosophy: SOAR believes all individuals identified with learning disabilities (LD) and attention deficit disorder (ADHD) possess inherent talents and gifts. These abilities can mean incredible success in adulthood once these students negotiate the challenging obstacles of childhood, adolescence, and a traditional education system, usually unable to respond to individual learning styles.

SOAR's programs are designed to allow students the opportunity to increase their independence while away from home. Independence is gained through self-motivation and life skills instruction. CAMP FACILITIES: Merrick Woods offers huge, sprawling ball fields and quaint, plenty of playgrounds, and rustic craft shops carved out of the woods. We also have three heated pools basking in the sunshine, and the shaded paths and coves where cool breezes provide comfort from the summer heat.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Merrick Woods offers a full range of activities. Swimming is the heart of a Merrick Woods summer. CAMP FACILITIES: Our facility is adjacent to several parks and other cultural attractions. We take full advantage of our immediate surroundings as well as trips into Manhattan and Long Island. We swim at least twice weekly at a local outdoor pool.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Campers engage in a daily sports, dance once a week, swimming twice weekly, and a number of exciting weekly field trips in and around NYC. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our unique program provides campers with a new experience everyday! While our campers are off having the time of their lives, our camp parents experience the highest level of customer service available. Each staff member is certified in CPR, First Aid, AED and Epi-Pen by a Red Cross certified instructor prior to the start of camp. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Addisone Boyce (CAB) provides experiences that will build lasting relationships and memories. Embark on a journey that will guide you towards a greater sense of self-esteem, courage, confidence, and character. Optional overnights are scheduled for girls in 4th-10th grade who are registered for a two-week session.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: The athletic program includes team sports and individual challenges. From basketball, softball, soccer and Frisbee to tennis, archery, biking and yoga, Ramah offers activities for all interests and skill levels. Older campers have the option to compete against other camps in varsity and junior varsity programs. They can improve their skill by learning from experts in our "Coaches-in-Residence" program. Yom Sport provides everyone with a day of friendly competition at all skill levels. We also offer a four day intensive sports clinic.

Ramah Berkshires campers enjoy swimming, boating and water play on beautiful Lake Ellis. The Red Cross certified waterfront staff instructs and guards our daily instructional swim periods, as well as free swim times. For older campers, we offer a lifeguard training certification. Our water trampoline, slide, "blob" and "Summit" add to the fun on the waterfront. Campers enjoy learning to kayak, canoe, and sail on the lake. Older campers have opportunities to participate in overnight boating adventures, as well.

Summer camp is about the great outdoors, and there's plenty of that at Ramah! Our Al Hagova specialists are trained to teach environmental values to campers through overnights and nature walks. Older campers experience multi-day bike trips and hiking trips. Campers of all ages look forward to "flying" through the air on our zip-line, or mastering climbing skills on our rock wall. Groups of campers learn to bond and cooperate while on our ropes course or hiking up Ramah Mountain. Our in-camp mountain bike trail is used by campers of all ages.

Jewish music and dance are keys to our program! Campers learn classic Israeli dances and songs, as well as modern pop tunes. Among the highlights of the summer are the Zimriyah (camp–wide song festival) and Rikudiah (dance festival). Drama specialists offer workshops in dramatic techniques and skills. Many camper edot (divisions) perform a musical play in Hebrew. Interested campers can opt for drama workshops. Those campers who love to sing can be part of our a cappella groups. Our staff and older camper a capella group performs each Friday evening, setting the mood as Camp ushers in Shabbat.

Experienced artists and art teachers transmit their love of arts and crafts and fine art throughout the summer. From painting, sculpting and papier mache to jewelry-making, woodworking and tallit-making, campers are introduced to a wide-range of activities and have the opportunity to hone their skills in areas of special interest. At various times during the summer, visiting artists share their specialties with our campers.

The multi-media center enables campers to explore photography, radio and film-making. Interested campers can improve their photography skills as they document the summer in pictures. They can anchor their own radio show on Camp's radio station, Kol Ramah (Voice of Ramah), that broadcasts throughout Camp. They can even film, direct, edit and produce movies under the guidance of our videography staff.

Interwoven into all aspects of camp life are Conservative Jewish values and Ahavat Yisrael, love of Israel. Campers participate in age-appropriate and meaningful daily prayer. Jewish learning factors into all aspects of the daily schedule, from sportsmanship to the Jewish view of saving the environment.
Integral to the Ramah community is the Mishlachat, educators and support staff from Israel who work in all aspects of camp life. They provide campers with a taste of Israel, exposure to Hebrew language, and an understanding of current events in the Middle East.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Our oldest campers, entering eleventh grade in our Gesher division learn important leadership skills, spending time as counselors in training (CIT) by helping our youngest campers with their daily activities. These campers receive specialized training from the Ramah Staff, as well as on-going instruction from visiting specialists during the summer. This last year, Gesher—meaning bridge—allows these campers to envision themselves as models and leaders to younger campers.

CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS OR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: We are committed to ensuring that no eligible camper is turned away due to financial hardship and to providing a Ramah experience for any camper who might not otherwise have been able to become part of our Ramah family. Camp Ramah offers financial assistance to campers and serves the Jewish community in cooperation with local synagogues and schools. The financial assistance process is strictly confidential. It begins with parents contacting their synagogue rabbi, educational director or other synagogue leaders. Please read about the process in our online application. Rabbi Resnick, our camp director, is available to assist parents in making the appropriate contacts.

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Camp Ramah in the Berkshires is the ideal location for your group to spend time together in a Jewish environment. Come experience the magic of “Ramah Shabbat” with your school, synagogue, or organization. Ramah Retreats also hosts B’nai Mitzvah, weddings, reunions and more. Our facility, only 70 miles from New York City, includes private "hotel-style" housing for adults to stay in the comfort of our newer facilities. All amenities can be tailored to meet your needs, and an onsite Ramah liaison is provided for every group to ensure the highest quality service during your stay.

OTHER CAMP INFO: For entering third graders, Ta’am Ramah (Taste of Ramah) gives first time campers an eight day “taste” of the Ramah experience, guided by nurturing, experienced staff for this first time sleep-away camp experience. CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: (open to campers 15-16 years of age) Are you looking for a way to have a positive impact in your community? Are you thinking of a future career working with children? The Counselor in Training (CIT) program could be just the thing for you! Many of our counselors started out as CITs themselves.

This two-week program allows CITs to gain practical experience working with campers by assisting counselors during classes, afternoon recreational activities, evening programs, and in cabins. Not only will CITs get hands-on leadership experience, they will also attend workshops from Directors and other leaders at camp on a variety of topics such as behavior and risk management, interviewing tips and managing stress – to name a few.

CITs successfully completing the program will be considered for hire in 2016. CIT campers must attend two consecutive weeks. Housing and supervision is not available over the weekend, requiring CITs to return home.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Our Executive Director Ken Glotzer has been directing the camp since it was founded in 1979, and wrote the first Master's program for camp leadership with the American Camp Association and Tuoro University. CAMP PROGRAM INFO: With Outdoor Adventures, you can learn some of the essentials skills that the pioneers early of America needed for their daily lives. In this exciting new program students will participate in a variety of activities using Nassau BOCES' Brookville Environmental Education Center, including homestead ecology, challenge courses, survival and orienteering. Blacksmithing - Students will learn the techniques and tools that were needed at the forge, and put these skills to the test

Outdoor cooking - Students will learn safe fire-building techniques, as well as simple recipes to cook over a fire.

CAMP FACILITIES: Each of our cabins is equipped with complete bathrooms/ showers, electricity, porches and plenty of space. (No bunk beds!) Cabins are designed to hold between 5-8 campers with a minimum of 3 staff members living in each cabin so that we can maintain our 2:1 camper counselor ratio.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Located along a secluded nine-mile lake in the Adirondacks of New York State is a private/ independent seven-week residential camp for 130 children from across the United States and around the world. Camp Northwood is oriented toward children with low self-esteem, immature social skill development, high functioning autism, Asperger's Syndrome and learning challenges in need of a structured and supportive, socially therapeutic summer experience. Northwood's program, developed and supervised by an outstanding staff of special educators, focuses on the development of independence, social skills, self-image and the maintenance of academic skills.

Each Northwood camper participates in a fully non-competitive, socially oriented, main-streamed styled camp program. A camper/ counselor ratio of 2:1 provides a high level of individualization at activities and in the cabin setting insuring success. In addition to traditional camp activities, each child participates in an individually designed academic program intended to help maintain current skill levels throughout the summer season. Northwood campers are exposed to a variety of social experiences designed to foster age-appropriate social skill development. With no road access or electricity and set apart from the technological world, the setting is ideal for fostering children's appreciation of nature and their connection to it. Our camp is a place to explore, experiment, and experience while enjoying the benefits of an all-girl program. FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): Every year we have Family camp weekend. Each year it is a different theme. The family can take part in the camp program or just use the camp as a place to stay and see the best of Long Island.

We also host an Alumni weekend for everyone to come join back in the fun from over 95 years of tradition.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Troop Camping
Troop leaders may take their girls camping for a weekend to Camp Kaufmann from September- May. Troop camping is a weekend event up to 72 hours in duration, planned and carried out by a troop at camp. The troop leaders reserve the housing and plan for meals and activities.

For any camping trip, the troop must have on certified first-aid and cpr certified adult for each group up to 44 campers. Each house or unit must have its own first aid/cpr certified adult. If you plan to use a fireplace, fire ring or seasonal unit, you need a camp certified adult (see training section). If you are staying in a lake house and do not plan on using a fire place or pit, then you will only need an adult who has taken the Overnight Adventures and Beyond training. Transportation is not provided for these weekends.

Outdoor Classrooms for Troop Camping
Troops can choose to enhance their experience by hiring one of our experienced counselors to run a specific activity for them. You will notice that there are different classrooms based on the season and they include different prices and lengths. New this year, we are introducing program patches for each of these classrooms. If this is your first time participating in these programs you will want to purchase a base patch for each of your girls. They are available at our camp trading post for $8.50 each. They will receive a free patch at the end of each of their outdoor classrooms, which can velcro onto the base patch!

“Do-It-Yourself” Programs in a Box for Troop Camping
Troops can choose to enhance their experience by renting a program in a box for the weekend. Each season features different boxes. These boxes include all of the programs you will need for the weekend including earned badges for the group.

Special Events
These events are open to all ages. We provide the troop with all of the activities, food and supplies for the weekend. The food and menu will be provided for each troop. The troop will prepare their meal and will be responsible for cleaning up after themselves. We always include a SWAP making station and actual swapping time, so girls can get to know girls from other troops during these weekends. Transportation is not provided for these events.

Girl-Only Weekends
This is an independent experience for older girls. Girls come without their leaders or moms and meet girls from other troops. The girls are provided everything including: programming, transportation, food, experienced counselors and more. Girls work towards specific badges and Journeys.

Day Trips
Girls can enjoy these trips with their moms or with their whole troop (sometimes even their families). These programs are great way for girls to enjoy camp for the first time! All of the programming, supplies and food are provided. Transportation is not.

Summer Weekends
Spend summer weekends swimming, fishing, boating, and having a great time. Come prepared to meet new people and have amazing experiences.

Mini Sleep-Away
If you’re between the ages of 9 and 17, come away with us to sleep-away camp where we’ll help you learn to climb a tree and build your confidence. Sleep-Away Adventure Camp offers girls the chance to experience a world of adventure and discovery. Girls will spend their days learning leadership skills, making friends, and sharing the excitement of going away with other girls.

Encampments
Camping events organized and operated by Troop Camp-certified adult volunteers from a geographic subdivision of the council (i.e. a borough or service unit) in which several troops participate. The program is planned and implemented by volunteers; some of the planning and scheduling may be done by the individual troops.

Many of our staff members and Directors are former campers who grew up at Thomas School and wanted to share the joys they had at camp with their children.

Our lifeguards are Red Cross Certified lifeguards and teach Red Cross certified swim lessons.

Our Riding Instructors are all certified instructors, as well as being certified in CPR and first aid by the Red Cross.

CAMP LEADERSHIP CIT/LIT PROGRAMS: Campers age 13-15 participate in our CIT program where they can choose a specialty area in camp and mentor with staff from that area (Ex: Ride staff, lifeguards, counselors etc.) They also go on trips-some of our past trips have included: overnight to Hershey Park, overnight to Six Flags Great Adventure, day trip to the Waterfront Center (sailing and kayaking), day trip to Mountain Creek water park, overnight to Club Getaway, day trip to Brownstone Adventure Park, overnight Camping/White Water Rafting, etc.)

YEAR-ROUND PROGRAMS: Year round ride school with programs for ages 3 and older. Lessons offered include private lessons, group lessons and semi privates. Group lessons are offered full year or seasonally.

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: French Woods Sports and Arts Center provides the summer of a lifetime in a safe, supportive, supervised and age appropriate environment. Campers completely determine which activities they will participate in. Children are offered a wide range of activities that include sports, arts, technology, extreme sports, circus, rock music, electronic music, dance, water sports, DJ and radio, theater, communications, magic, cooking, role playing games, and equestrian. All that and more rolled up together into one incredible summer experience!

There are six activities per day, each one hour in length; three of these periods are called majors and three are called minors.

Majors are chosen at the beginning of each session and are maintained for two weeks. Minors are chosen daily at breakfast. This lets you concentrate on the things that interest you, while giving you the chance to try something new.

Empowering our campers to feel good about themselves and their accomplishments can increase motivation to try harder, try new activities, continues to build self-confidence, and achieve self-efficacy. Ramapo for Children offers college students a valuable and highly unique summer job experience through one of our programs: Camp Ramapo. Ramapo runs one of the few residential summer camps that specifically serves children with social, emotional, and learning challenges. FAMILY CAMP SESSION(S): We have several activities for the families as well as for our campers. We have a large camp BBQ at the end of the season that includes food, music, a talent show, and presentations from the the various activities that the campers enjoy everyday (Music, Nature, Soccer, etc.). We also have three "Date Nights", Friday nights during the summer where parents can drop off the kids for the evening and enjoy discounts at local restaurants!

CAMP FACILITIES: When campers are not on a trip, they will have a full complement of fun activities in Caedmon’s four-story building. Highly skilled counselors will guide them in swimming, arts and crafts, cooking, movement, music, science, tennis, and, of course, sports and games in the outdoor courtyard. The three youngest groups will also have waterplay 2–3 times per week.

CAMP FACILITIES: Our campers enjoy our Swiss Chalet-style cabins with large screened in windows and indoor bathrooms, daily swims in crystal clear Chateaugay Lake, basketball courts, tennis courts, large fields for soccer and field hockey, and dining in the "Hearth."

CAMP PROGRAM INFO: Camp Jeanne d’Arc offers a unique sleepaway summer camp experience where girls from around the world come together to form friendships, enjoy group living in a small camp community, get a little closer to nature, and challenge themselves in a host of activities. Our focus is on camp spirit and the talents that each camper, counselor and staff member brings to and shares with our camp group each summer. ACA certified

SUMMER CAMP JOBS:
At Jeanne d’Arc, being a camp counselor means more than just a summer job, you join a family of friends as soon as you walk through our gate. You will be given a unique opportunity to work with incredible people from the U.S. and around the world in a magnificent setting, the Adirondack Mountains.

More than 40 counselors and staff members assist the director in the day-to-day operations of the camp. The camper-counselor staff ratio averages 3:1. As a staff member, you will be entrusted with someone’s most important possession, their child. We look for counselors who exhibit the maturity necessary to succeed in this role.
